Starting to get a little chilly...

We have just entered October, wow! Can you believe it's October already? I am just blown away with how fast this year has gone by. There has been so much that has happened, I cannot say that life is dull. There is always something that will keep you on your toes.

I look forward to new challenges and prepare to defeat them. My next challenge is market in Highpoint, NC. This will be my first trip to market and I welcome it as a new and exciting experience. I set off on October 15^th and return on the 20^th. Exciting new products and vendors, oh my! I welcome any advice that anyone would like to give. Any ideas on product that you are looking for that you are not able to find that maybe I can keep my eye out for? Let me know and I will be your personal researcher.

This blog has been such a great learning experience for me. I have met new people. I am able to follow the design world more closely in other areas of the world and try and relate them back to projects going on here. I learn something new every day from any topic that I blog about. It’s amazing what it can do, personally and business wise. It’s wonderful! I will continue to try and make it grow only to better serve the fabulous designers out there!

hot...hot...hot!!!

Here we are! Full blown into summer. Can you believe this heat? WOW. Not even into August yet. I figured it was time for a new look. Stir up the pot just a bit and get things rolling again. I always have a new look going on myself (As many of you know! Thank you McGannon's for letting me show my creativity on the outside as well!) so I like to pass it along to the blog as well. We have an intern with us for the next few weeks, Danielle, an Interior Design student studying at Texas State. She is wonderful, please come in and meet her. We have just passed the 4th of July now, vacation is over and we are well on our way. Time is flying by this year. A lot of things have been happening in the world, politically, entertainment, and economy...time to get back into the positive mode that we all love! We haven't lost it here at McGannon and would love to share our energy with you. Stop in and visit us anytime you like. We always have goodies! We have great sales going on all the time and we always look forward to our next event! Beverly and I here in Austin can't wait to plan the next event to host. Dallas is gearing up for one in September; keep your eyes peeled for that one because it will be HUGE!!! As always, as soon as I receive the information I will pass it along to you. Getting ready for summer...

The hot weather has already begun here in Austin and we are all truly enjoying the sunshine. People are enjoying the lake and the water, what a great time to be living in Austin, TX. I love all the festivites that take place as the weather warms up to. From the Pecan Street festival that happened a few weekends ago, to the marathons, 5K's and concerts. The buzz is around town and the spirits are up. What a great thing to wake up to everyday! Just thinking about all of the things there are to do around town and the surrounding areas. Get out there and support your neighbors! What a better way to grow a community and keep it thriving...I love this town!!!

welcome...phase 2

So here we are on the brink of two months since I first started this site, my hair is a little longer and the weather is getting warmer. I must say that the response has been great! Thanks to everyone who has supported this venture. I am having a lot of fun researching things going on in the community and design world to add as much as I can to this site. I hope it is becoming a helpful tool if not enjoyment to those who visit. I would love to hear more about the designers in the community and their projects going on. Positive feedback is always welcome. I believe that anyone and everyone can benefit from some positive news these days. Let's celebrate it! We have a lot going on here at McGannon Showrooms as well. Welcome to off-the-floor! I would like to introduce myself~ my name is Marie Richards. I am a designer that works for McGannon Showrooms in Austin, TX. I have been extremely lucky to be able to expand my horizons and create this webpage as another tool for designers and people who enjoy the world of design. Opinions, ideas, new vendors, new fabrics, resources, trends, anything and everything to do with design is the key here. We want to be able to highlight events, designers and current projects happening in the design world and bring them all to one location~ off-the-floor! I have the pleasure of working with some of the greatest people here in Austin and also in Dallas, you can find them on the "Our Team" page. Get to know them because they can become your best resource, I know they have been for me! (Thank you!!!) We would also like to hear from you. Tell us your thoughts. We want to be able to help you and make your design world better. What can we do to help you? What would make you happier? Have a design story? We would love to hear about all of it. Curious about the name off-the-floor? Think of a showroom where you can fall in love with something and take it home that day...like a dream right? Well that's what we do at McGannon's.
